Devonport Village
Devonport is a delightful seaside village whose colonial history is unspoilt by the passage of time. One of Auckland's earliest settlements, the village mixes charm and civility with beautifully restored old villas.
This unique location on the harbour peninsular along with sandy beaches provides stunning views over Auckland - New Zealand's City of Sails, the Waitemata Harbour and the islands of the Hauraki Gulf from its three Mounts.
Many locals know Devonport peninsular as the “Village of Auckland”, it is laden with history commencing with Maori occupation before the arrival of Europeans and the establishment of the first European settlements in 1840. Devonport is surrounded by sea and commands magnificent 360 degree views from Mount Victoria Takarunga, of the Hauraki Gulf and Auckland City, just across the bay. Devonport derives much of its charm from the fine examples of colonial villas that have been restored and renovated, together with the beautiful examples of native flora that can be seen in the many parks, reserves and beaches of the village. These influences are portrayed and represented in the wealth of local art, craft and sculpture displayed in village galleries.

The Royal New Zealand Navy operates a base in Devonport of which there are various historic sites.
If flying or arriving on a cruise ship to Auckland we can arrange for you to be met and conveyed directly to Peace and Plenty Inn. Our driver will assist you with baggage and other formalities. Please let us know your needs at the time of reservation. The cost of this service is approximately NZ$70 per group up to a maximum of 6 people.
If driving from the airport or from points south, follow the motorway, Highway One, north (well signed form the airport). Cross over the Harbour Bridge and take the Esmonde Road ramp off the motorway and follow the blue direction signs to Devonport. As you approach Devonport you will pass the golf course on your left and reach a mini roundabout at the base of Mount Victoria. Turn right and follow the road down Victoria Road main street. Turn left near the bottom, in front of the fountain, into Flagstaff Terrace. Peace and Plenty is the first house on the left (Number 6) overlooking the reserve and beach.
