Location Description
GETTING TO AUCKLAND CENTRAL BACKPACKERS
Located right in the centre of Auckland's main street, you won't find anywhere more central and convenient than this!
We are in the centre of all major transport terminals, shops, restaurants and bars. Museums, theatres, cinemas and art galleries are all around us.
INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
Once through the Customs area, walk straight ahead to the front of the building where you will see signs for shuttle buses and taxis.
The Airbus stop is on the right, past the taxi rank. This is the cheapest way to get to ACB and an Airbus leaves for the city every 20 minutes [5:00am - 10pm]. The Airbus costs $15 but tell the driver you are staying at ACB and he will only charge you $13.
The Airbus will drop you right at our door.
We have a freephone number on the phone board at the Visitor Information Centre on the left of the arrivals area before you exit the building. You can call us from there and our receptionist will give you instructions on how to get to the Shuttle Rank or Airbus.
The shuttles cost $22 for the first person, $5 for each additional person, $5 extra for surf-boards or bikes, and will drop you at our door. To reach the Shuttle rank, turn left outside the main doors and you will find Super Shuttle & Johnstones Shuttle.
DOMESTIC TERMINALS
There are two, Air New Zealand & Qantas. The shuttle buses stop and pick up at both and the Airbus stops at the front of each every 20 min.
From the baggage collection area, you will see the Information & Freephone Display Cube. You can arrange a shuttle from there by calling ACB or just approach a waiting bus outside the building. Prices & methods are the same as at the International Airport, and again, all buses will drop you at our door.
HEADING BACK TO THE AIRPORT
When you want to return to the Airport, remember to book your Airbus ticket at reception and get our discounted rate!
Airbus picks up at ACB's door every 20 minutes from 5:10am to 10:00pm and the other shuttles can be booked for a specific pickup time, 24hrs a day.
You can take a taxi to and from the airport, but as its 22km from downtown to the airport the fare is much higher than a shuttle or Airbus. If you do take a taxi ask at ACB reception for a discounted flat rate from the city to the airport.
Remember Customs & Immigration require you to check in 2 hours before your flight. It’s wise to check in 1 hour prior to domestic flights, and don't forget to add travel time to this when you arrange your pickup.
DRIVING
Finding ACB is fairly simple as we are on Queen St which is the main street of Auckland. If you are approaching Auckland from the South take the Nelson St exit from the motorway, if you are approaching Auckland from the North take the Cook St exit.
Once on Queen Street turn into Darby Street as this is where our entrance is, and there’s a carpark on Darby Street which has good overnight rates, although it is more expensive during the daytime. Ask about our discount at reception.

Backpacker buses will drop you right at our door - just tell the driver you are stopping at ACB!
